Liquid hydrogen, a key component of Hyto Energy’s storage and transport solutions, is hydrogen cooled to -253°C, converting it from a gas to a liquid, which reduces its volume by over 800 times—enabling efficient large-scale storage and long-distance transport. This dramatic volume reduction makes liquid hydrogen ideal for scenarios where large quantities of hydrogen need to be moved or stored, such as supplying industrial hubs, refueling stations, or remote communities. Hyto’s liquid hydrogen tanks are engineered with advanced insulation systems—typically multi-layered vacuum jackets—to minimize heat ingress, reducing “boil-off” (the natural evaporation of hydrogen due to heat absorption) to less than 0.1% per day, ensuring minimal losses during storage or transport. These tanks are constructed from materials capable of withstanding extreme cold, with safety features including pressure relief valves and rupture discs to manage internal pressure. Liquid hydrogen is particularly valuable for heavy-duty transport, as liquid tankers can carry significantly more hydrogen than high-pressure gaseous trailers, reducing delivery costs and frequency. When needed, liquid hydrogen is vaporized back to gas, with the cold energy sometimes captured and reused for refrigeration or other industrial processes, enhancing overall efficiency. By offering liquid hydrogen solutions, Hyto Energy enables the large-scale distribution of hydrogen, supporting its adoption in sectors where high-volume, long-distance supply is critical, from industrial manufacturing to heavy transportation.
