The hydrogen generator in Picea is an alkaline electrolyzer that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from solar panels. This component produces high-purity hydrogen (99.999%) for storage, with a nominal capacity of 1.5 Nm³/h. The electrolyzer operates at low pressure (≤3 bar) and requires minimal water input, making it suitable for residential use. Unlike fossil-based hydrogen production, this process emits zero CO₂. The Picea 2 features improved power electronics that enhance electrolyzer efficiency and compatibility with larger PV arrays. The hydrogen generator is a core component enabling Picea’s year-round energy autonomy.
